incumbent oversees and supervises the Water Division
staff and the completion of any assigned projects.
Responsible for managing all maintenance and repair of
water systems and metering. Develops systems for
on-going maintenance and repair to the town water
system. Ensures compliance with all applicable local,
State, and federal regulations for drinking water
supply. Completes all state Department of Environmental
Protection reports. Provides emergency response to water
service interruptions and ensures efficient and
economical repairs; resolves customer complaints;
resolves disputes over water quality and inadequate
pressure. Answers emergency calls and serves as “Primary
Operator” as defined by the Massachusetts DEP. Active in
the formulation of the water division budget and
recommends purchase of larger equipment. Performs all
other related work, as required. High School diploma,
with additional technical training; five to seven years
of supervisory experience in the operation of a water
system or Grade II drinking water supply facility; or an
equivalent combination of education and experience.
