Water Technician Position
Position will be involved in day-to-day activities in the treatment, distribution, and storage of water operations. Must have mechanical aptitude and dexterity to assist in the repair, installation, reading and maintenance of water meters, services, hydrants, water mains and other appurtenances. Assists in routine and emergency maintenance of all District owned assets. Performs equipment monitoring, recording of data and manual data entry. Attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures is required. Must have the physical stamina and dexterity to work in various locations under adverse weather conditions; including trenches, pits, vaults, crawlspaces, tanks, and other areas difficult to access. After a minimum 6 month probationary period, the technician shall be required to be part of a nightly rotating scheduled On-call staff for overnight response. Must live within a 30-minute response time.
A minimum of a Grade 1 Treatment or Grade 1 Distribution Operator License is mandatory for consideration. Grade 2 Treatment Preferred. The position is part of a Collective Bargaining Union Contract. The starting wage range is between $19.23 to $37.20 per hour based on skills, license’s and experience. Excellent benefits package including Blue Cross Blue Shield health and Delta Dental coverage. Cost of coverage is provided at Employer 90/Employee 10 percent split. Workweek is Monday through Friday 40 hours/week.
