Aquarion Water Company is pleased to announce a job opening for Meter Reader/Service Technician- Union for their water system serving Hingham, Hull, and N. Cohasset. Aquarion Water Company is a private water company operating water systems in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. The Massachusetts headquarters is located in Hingham, MA at their water treatment plant.
Applicant must have the necessary mechanical and basic skills which are required to fulfill this position. The applicant must be a high school or vocational school graduate or have an equivalent GED. Applicants must obtain and hold a Grade 2 Distribution License within 3 years of being hired as a condition of employment. Applicant must hold a valid motor vehicle operators license at the time of appointment; literate in English; and have aptitude for effective use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and SAP. Applicant must be in good physical condition and be capable of regularly working an eight (8) hour shift and additional overtime as required.
The primary responsibilities of this position include meter reading, customer service functions, and water distribution system service work including, but not limited to:
- Reading customer meters with radio based and hand held equipment
- Uploading and downloading meter reading route information and data
- Installing and removing water meters
- Operating and maintaining service line and distribution valves
- Performing water main and service installations
- Performing maintenance to the distribution system, both regular and emergency
- It is recognized that the foregoing classification reflects only the principal duty of the employee and that assignments to the other work may be made when conditions require.
The base wage rate for this position is $25.31 to $29.49 depending on license held. Aquarion also provides and excellent benefit package.
